The Globe Market is located at 762 Elmwood Ave in the heart of the Elmwood village. It opened in 2003 and is owned and operated by Alice Eoannou. The concept of globe market is to serve unique homemade foods from different parts of the globe. The dishes are one hundred percent homemade. The breads, soups and salads are all made from scratch. The list is endless and Alice’s motto is “no cans allowed”. Each morning baker/chef Chris Wahl arrives at 4:00 AM to bake the bread and prepare the daily specials. Alicia Nielson, another mainstay at Globe then prepares the four daily soups, including their award-winning tomato basil. Globe has been the recipient of many culinary awards over the years including best soup, best salad, and best small caterer.
As an employer Alice strives for diversity and supports the living wage. She has hired many of employees from the International Institute and welcomes their ethic and cultural input in the daily specials. Alice is proud to say her employees are “like family “and many have worked there for many years.
Globe has persevered through thick and thin and thanks the community for their support and strives to make Globe “your kitchen away from home”.
